Translated Courses

Since the launch of OCW, more than 1,000 translations of OCW courses in ten languages have been created and shared under a Creative Commons license through the work of dedicated volunteers and organizations around the world.

MIT OpenCourseWare has formally partnered with the following four organizations that have translated OCW course materials into Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, and Korean. Currently, OCW provides links to approximately 300 translated courses from these organizations.

For more information on how an institution can become an OCW Translation Affiliate, please contact the MIT OpenCourseWare External Outreach Manager.

Other Translations

Since September 2002, when the OCW pilot phase opened to the public, OCW materials have been translated into at least 10 languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, French, German, Vietnamese, and Ukrainian.

Under the OCW Creative Commons license, users are allowed to translate OCW materials into the language of their choice. Translations are acceptable use of OCW materials provided they meet the three requirements of the OCW Creative Commons license: That the user provide attribution of the materials they choose to adapt; that the use of the materials be a non-commercial activity; and that the user share the derivative work openly as OCW is free and open, or "share alike." The complete Creative Commons license is available on our site.

In addition, any of OCW materials translated into other languages from the original English must be accompanied by the following disclaimer: "These MIT OpenCourseWare course materials have been translated into ________________ [language] by _____________________ [individual or group name].
